KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A Kalamazoo man has been arraigned in connection with a shooting that occurred during a private event at the Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan Kalamazoo Regional Program and Training Center in the 600 block of West Maple Street Sunday evening.
22-year-old Pharrell Norman Stacy has been charged with:
• Two counts of Assault with Intent to Murder
• Three counts of Felony Firearm
• One count of Discharge of a Weapon in a Building Causing Injury
He was arraigned Monday and issued a $100,000 cash/surety bond.
The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety responded to the around 5:15 p.m. and determined a private event was taking place when a verbal dispute escalated into a physical altercation inside, near the lobby. During the disturbance, gunfire was discharged inside the building.
Officers arrived to find a 25-year-old male victim outside the main entrance suffering gunshot wounds to both legs. A second 25-year-old male victim was located inside the building with gunshot wounds to the chest and lower body. Both victims were transported to local hospital where one was later released and the other is listed in stable condition.
Officers found Stacy hiding inside a lower-level closet and was taken into custody without further incident. A firearm was recovered at the scene.
