WINDSOR, ONTARIO (WKZO AM/FM) – A joint U.S.-Canada ceremony that had been planned for Friday to celebrate the opening of the Gordie Howe International Bridge connecting Detroit and Windsor has been canceled by Canada.
The move follows President Donald Trump announcing a 50% tariff on most goods imported from Canada.
Trump accuses the northern neighbor of unfairly discriminating against U.S. alcohol and dairy products and automobiles.
Canada will hold its own ceremony Friday and the bridge is still expected to open for traffic on Monday.
