BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Battle Creek Police Department is investigating a serious crash that left a young motorcyclist critically injured Tuesday afternoon.
Police say at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon , emergency crews—including Battle Creek Police, LifeCare Ambulance, and Battle Creek Fire, responded to a personal injury collision at Raymond Road and East Emmett Street.
Preliminary findings indicate that a southbound motorcycle, operated by a 20-year-old man from Three Rivers, collided with a pickup truck driven by a 77-year-old Emmett Township resident. The motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed to a local hospital for emergency treatment.
Investigators currently believe that excessive speed on the part of the motorcycle was a contributing factor in the wreck.
The Battle Creek Police Accident Reconstruction Team has taken the lead on the ongoing investigation, and no further details regarding the identities or conditions of those involved have been released.
Police are urging anyone who witnessed the crash, or the moments leading up to it, to come forward.
