GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Joe Trigg is officially the new police chief in Grand Rapids.
He took the oath of office yesterday with family, friends, and colleagues before him at City Hall, with City Manager Mark Washington calling it an honor to “affirm and appoint Joseph Trigg as our 16th chief of the Grand Rapids Police Department.”
He bested three other finalists for the job last week, including Kalamazoo Public Safety Captain Rafael Diaz and has served over 25 years with the GRPD.
Trigg became deputy chief in 2023 and had been serving as interim chief since Eric Winstrom left at the end of February.
