KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A
second arrest has been made in a 2023 murder in Kalamazoo.
June 15, 2023 the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety
responded to a shooting in the 900 block of Hays Park Avenue. Responding officers located
20-year-old Alexander Schuster suffering from a gunshot wound.
Schuster was transported to an area hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Last week the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office issued an eight-count felony warrant for 21-year-old Dariyon Mills-Wright for his role in Schuster’s death. The charges include felony murder and armed robbery.
Mills-Wright was arrested Thursday and arraigned today before Judge
Hemingway. He received a $10,000 cash/surety bond.
A second suspect, 22-year-old Damarqus Mills, was sentenced in June 2026 to 18 to 30 years in prison following an armed robbery conviction related to the incident.
