KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – It’s going to be a big weekend in downtown Kalamazoo, in fact it’s become the biggest and busiest of the year.
Discover Kalamazoo is calling it the JumpstART weekend, with the emphasis on ART.
City commissioner Chris Praedel says the tourism group has credit card data that shows just how big it’s become.
Among the events is the 75th Annual Kalamazoo Institute of Arts Fair in Bronson Park, with over 100 curated artists and craftsmen putting their works on display for sale. There will be 60 more artists on the downtown Kalamazoo Mall Friday and Saturday.
Another big event this weekend is the two day Pride Festival at the Arcadia Creek Festival Park.
Vice Mayor Drew Duncan says Pride Fest is more than just a party, especially this year.
There will also be a book sale at the Kalamazoo Public Library Saturday.
Commissioner Jeanne Hess she is excited about the weekend.
The weekend of events will conclude with a concert in Bronson Park by the Kalamazoo Concert Band from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
