LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Three cities in Calhoun, Lapeer, and Monroe counties will share nearly $6.82-million in grant money and tax breaks from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation for new housing.
In Calhoun County, Albion will receive a $5-million grant to build 21 residential spaces and six commercial spaces in a vacant block downtown.
North Branch in Lapeer County is receiving $992,000 in a grant to redevelop a closed hardware store into eight apartments and a commercial space, and downtown Monroe will get $250,000 to create two apartments and a commercial space in a vacant building.
