LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Energy costs in the state are expected to be higher this summer according to the Michigan Public Service Commission’s 2026 Summer Energy Appraisal.
The closure of the Strait of Hormuz along with the ongoing war with Iran and rising gas prices are at the heart of the higher cost.
Electricity prices are also up an average of 4.6% compared to last year in Michigan.
The report, however, is not projecting any major electricity supply shortages this summer.
