DEARBORN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jocelyn Benson and independent candidate Mike Duggan traded barbs at a candidate forum held by the United Auto Workers in Dearborn.
They were also joined by Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson, who is facing Benson for the Democratic Party nomination.
The two got testy with each other when they were asked by a UAW member if they could commit to refusing donations from corporate political action committees, with Duggan saying he was not going to pretend he wasn’t taking PAC money when he is.
But he called out Benson’s acceptance of $1.5-million from a California couple through the Michigan Legacy PAC.
She says she has never met Kenneth Duda and his wife, who made the donation, but says they contributed to the PAC to invest in “pro-democracy leaders.”
