PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Charles Zhang and Lynn Chen-Zhang of Portage will receive the Ellis Island Medal of Honor for their contributions to business, public service, and philanthropy.
The two are both Western Michigan University graduates and own Zhang Financial.
Their names are also all over the area, like the Charles & Lynn Zhang Portage Community Senior Center, The Zhang Financial Room at WMU, Charles & Lynn Zhang Animal Rescue Center, and the soon-to-open Portage Zhang Farmers Market.
They have scholarships, fellowships, development sponsorships, and gifts at WMU, Kalamazoo College, Kellogg College, and the University of Michigan.
Past recipients of the Ellis Island Medal of Honor are Rosa Parks, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, Muhammad Ali, former U.S. Senator John McCain, and eight U.S. presidents.
