LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Absentee ballot returns are 30% higher than they were at this point before the 2022 general election.
As of Tuesday morning, the Secretary of State’s office says 201,909 absentee ballots had been returned, while there were 155,142 four weeks before the last governor’s election.
Practical Political Data’s Mark Grebner says this is the first governor’s election where voters on the permanent absentee list automatically received their ballots instead of having to request them.
The returns include ballots dropped off at local clerks’ offices, deposited in drop boxes, and mailed in.
