LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The state Senate might vote today on suspending Michigan’s gas tax.
The suspension would be for 90 days and the possibility of the vote prompted the Michigan Infrastructure and Transportation Association’s board to hold an emergency meeting.
The gas tax pays for road repairs and Republican House Speaker Matt Hall of Richland says he doesn’t want a vote on suspending it without replacing the revenue.
House Democrats want to replace the $600-million with money from the state’s Rainy Day Fund.
