FREELAND, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Severe storms Tuesday resulted in two tornadoes touching down in Michigan.
The National Weather Service says up to 40 homes in Freeland, northwest of Saginaw, were damaged in the first twister that touched down around 1:15 p.m.
The second happened five minutes later and just over 40-miles away in Genesee County in a farm field.
No damage was done from that tornado.
The weather also caused a ground stop for flights headed to Detroit Metro Airport from 5:15 p.m. until 7:45 p.m.
