BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – Global automotive supplier DENSO capped off its 40th year of manufacturing in Battle Creek with a $250,000 corporate donation to the Battle Creek Housing Fund.
Joined by Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, U.S. Representative Bill Huizenga, and local city officials, company leadership gathered to celebrate four decades of local automotive production.
The quarter-million-dollar contribution is earmarked to support the city’s aggressive housing initiative, which aims to build or rehabilitate 1,000 homes in the community by 2035.
The celebration highlights DENSO’s deep roots and ongoing evolution in the region, coming on the heels of a massive $63 million investment secured for its Battle Creek thermal manufacturing facility.
That funding is being utilized to retool production lines to accommodate the manufacturing of electric vehicle components, reinforcing the state’s green mobility transformation.
During the event, Governor Whitmer emphasized that the workforce infrastructure and local investments go hand-in-hand, ensuring that automotive professionals have vibrant, affordable places to live and work as Michigan continues to lead the nation’s transition toward next-generation automotive manufacturing.
