WASHINGTON, April 29 (Reuters) – A measure to open debate on key legislation to outline funding for immigration enforcement operations and to renew foreign surveillance authority was approved in the House of Representatives on Wednesday.
The victory came after House Speaker Mike Johnson persuaded his fellow Republicans to back the measure in an effort that kept the vote open for more than two hours. The final vote was 215-210 to go ahead with debate.
