MARTIN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Apr. 24, 2026) – Four persons from Kalamazoo were arrested following a multi-agency drug bust on Wednesday near Martin.
According to the Michigan State Police, detectives with the Southwest Enforcement Team and the Mid-Michigan Investigative Narcotics Team were involved when an Allegan County Sheriff’s Deputy pulled over a vehicle along US-131 near the 116th Street (M-222) exit. Four persons were inside of the vehicle, and they had purportedly resisted arrest, with one of them tearing open packages containing suspected narcotics, throwing the contents out of the window and onto the roadway, in an apparent attempt to destroy evidence.
This resulted in three deputies being exposed to potentially hazardous substances, necessitating treatment at an unnamed “local hospital,” while another deputy had to be treated for bite wounds sustained from an assault by one of the suspects. One of the suspects was taken to an undisclosed medical facility, for treatment of a possible drug overdose, and released.
When all was said and done, more than 400 grams of crystal methamphetamine was recovered from the vehicle. A subsequent search of a residence in the vicinity of Washington Avenue and Portage Street in Kalamazoo led to additional evidence of alleged narcotics distribution.
The four unnamed suspects are facing multiple charges, including resisting and obstructing causing injury, attempting to destroy evidence, and possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver.
