BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A man who Battle Creek Police say hit and killed a pedestrian with his vehicle and then fled the scene is being held in the Calhoun County Jail pending arraignment.
Police responded early Sunday morning to a reported crash near Renton Road and Watkins Road. Officers found a vehicle had struck a pedestrian and was unoccupied at the scene. LifeCare Ambulance and the Battle Creek Fire Department provided medical assistance, but the victim, a 36-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Battle Creek Police Department’s Road Patrol and Detective Bureau investigated the incident. Sunday afternoon, officers located and arrested the driver, a 29-year-old man, who will be charged with hit-and-run causing death.
