PENNFIELD TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A 33-year-old Battle Creek man is hospitalized in critical condition with life-threatening injuries from a hit-and-run that happened late Saturday night.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash injuring him just after 11 p.m. on North Avenue near East Coolidge Avenue in Pennfield Township.
The driver of a silver car hit the person as they were trying to cross North Avenue and was going at what deputies call a high rate of speed.
A 19-year-old man from Climax was arrested after Michigan State Police found the vehicle in the 100 block of Eastwood Drive in Battle Creek and say it had damage that appeared to be from the crash.
He is facing charges of reckless driving causing great bodily harm, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, and not stopping at a personal injury crash.
The case remains under investigation.
