LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – U.S. and Michigan flags will fly at half-staff today.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer says it is to honor U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Saul Gonzalez of Pullman.
Gonzalez was killed in Erbil, Iraq in a non-combat related incident when supporting Operation Inherent Reserve a month ago.
Whitmer says the flag lowering was done in coordination with the 26-year-old’s family to coincide with the one-month anniversary of his death.
