LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – State Senate Minority Leader Aric Nesbitt is formally asking the U.S. Department of Justice to investigate the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
The Van Buren County Republican sent a letter yesterday to U.S. Inspector General Michael Horowitz requesting the probe to determine the possible role of foreign leaders in a MEDC scandal.
Former MEDC executive board member Fey Beydoun and her nonprofit Global Link International received a $20-million taxpayer-funded grant that is under investigation by Attorney General Dana Nessel.
Nesbitt says “the potential national security implications and the involvement of foreign officials elevate this matter to a federal concern.”
