PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Portage City Council is investigating if councilwoman Lisa Brayton is eligible to serve in the office she was elected to in 2021.
Brayton is running for mayor this fall, but the address she gave when she filed the paperwork is for a home under construction on East Shore Drive.
Michigan State Police and the Attorney General’s office are investigating that matter and City Attorney Catherine Hoffman says they cannot investigate that part of it.
Brayton has been given until noon September 5 to give the city a sworn affidavit of places she lived and when she lived there since November 2021. Brayton did not attend Monday night’s special Portage City Council meeting.
