CASSOPOLIS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A man accused of attempting to rob a Cassopolis gas station in late July was charged on Tuesday, August 22.
Authorities say 35-year-old Cordeleus Martin tried to rob the Marathon gas station on South Broadway Street on July 27 when he pulled a knife on the store clerk who was on duty.
They went onto say that a customer with a valid concealed pistol license then shot Martin who is now facing multiple charges to include Armed Robbery with a possible sentence of up to life in prison.
Also on Tuesday, Cass County Prosecutor Victor Fitz ruled that the actions taken by the customer who shot Martin were lawful and justified, and that no charges will be pressed against them.
Martin is expected to appear in court on Thursday, August 24.
