KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety is responding to a report made by Child Protective Services that now has led to an investigation of child abuse.
The report from a CPS Social Worker stated that a two-month-old infant was being treated for potentially life-threatening injuries at an area hospital. This led KDPS Detectives to conduct several interviews with witnesses over the course of several hours.
They then executed a search warrant at a residence in the 700 block of Garland Avenue where they discovered evidence related to the ongoing investigation. A person of interest was then taken into custody.
Authorities say the infant remains hospitalized and that additional steps have been taken to ensure its safety. They’re asking anyone with additional information to contact the KDPS Criminal Investigation Division at 269-337-8139, or Silent Observer at 269-343-2100.
