HASTINGS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Barry County Sheriff’s Department is continuing its investigation into a one-vehicle accident that killed a Vermontville man.
Deputies were called to E M 79 Hwy near Quimby Rd around 2:50 p.m. Saturday, and discovered a Ford F-150 truck that had left the road and struck a tree.
The truck had been headed east on M-79, when it drifted left of center, and ran off the north side of the highway.
The victim, a 25 year old, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities report it is unknown if alcohol and drugs were factors in the crash.
The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin.
