KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A motion to drop charges against a former Kalamazoo pastor has been denied, according to a report from WWMT Wednesday.
Strick Strickland was charged last August with 11 felony counts involving criminal sexual conduct and human trafficking.
Authorities allege Strickland and his wife used their positions at Second Baptist Church and Kalamazoo Public Schools to coerce four teen boys into having sex.
According to Strickland’s charging documents, he paid multiple teenage boys to have sex with his wife, Jazmonique Strickland, while he watched between 2015 and 2018.
Charges against Jazmonique were dropped earlier this year, as there was insufficient evidence that she had used her positions to solicit the acts.
On Wednesday, it was reported that Strick Strickland’s legal team had said that since those charges were dropped against his wife, they should be dropped against him as well.
However, a judge denied that motion, saying that they were both charged separately for their own actions.
Strickland will be back in court this December.
