CHELSEA, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Former Michigan State basketball star Keith Appling is now in custody following a shooting death in Detroit over the weekend.
Michigan State Police troopers located and arrested Appling in Chelsea Monday morning. He was named a suspect in the shooting that left a 66-year-old man dead Saturday. Police say Appling fired multiple gunshots, then fled the scene. A verbal altercation escalated into a physical fight before the shots were fired. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities say Appling was arrested without incident.
