PARK TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Two people were killed after a pickup truck slammed into a tree early Saturday morning in St. Joseph County.
At 12:08 a.m. deputies from the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the intersection of Parkville Road and Mint Road in Park Township.
The Sheriff’s Office says their preliminary investigation indicates that a pickup truck, driven by a 27 -year-old Kalamazoo man, was traveling northbound on Parkville Road when it failed to negotiate the curve at Mint Road and struck a tree.
The driver sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Bronson Hospital for treatment. Two additional occupants of the vehicle, a 29-year-old male and a 27-year-old male, were pronounced deceased at the scene.
They say alcohol and speed appear to be contributing factors in the crash.
The accident remains under investigation.
