LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – At long last, a state budget framework is in place in Lansing with critical public funding on the line of an October 1st deadline.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer, along with House Speaker Matt Hall of Richland and Senate Majority Leader Winnie Brinks of Grand Rapids, issued a joint statement announcing the deal on Thursday evening.
Hall had this reaction.
Governor Whitmer praised Lansing Democrats and Republicans for working together on the bills.
The agreement includes a 24% wholesale tax on marijuana sales, negotiated down from the 32% sought by Democrats.
Lawmakers will hold final votes early next week.
