BEDFORD TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB/WNWN) – Thursday morning officers with the Battle Creek Police Department responded to an unusual call: three cows on the loose Bedford Township.
.
The bovine suspects, identified as Ferdinand, Elvis and Pat, collectively known as The Halbert Herd, were spotted grazing on a neighbor’s landscaping along Halbert Road.
Cpl. Craig Wolf, Officer Emily Tuyls and Animal Control Officer Patrick Dellinger arrived on scene and quickly assessed the situation. The cows, caught red-hooved in the act, appeared unfazed by the presence of law enforcement.
The road was temporarily closed while officers worked to safely corral the trio. Negotiations were peaceful, and snacks may have played a role in the successful resolution.
The cows were safely returned home, and no injuries were reported, although several flower beds remain in critical condition.
