LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A local lawmaker who is the former vice president of Lifecare Ambulance is co-sponsoring bills supporting Michigan’s volunteer firefighters and emergency services personnel.
House Bills 4431-32, introduced by state Representatives Matthew Bierlein and Steve Frisbie, establish a $2,500 refundable state income tax credit for workers.
“Having served as both a paramedic and a volunteer firefighter, I understand firsthand the sacrifices our emergency responders make every day,” said Frisbie, who spent 40 years as a paramedic and ambulance service administrator before entering public office and served as a volunteer firefighter for Pennfield Township in Calhoun County and the village of Colon in St. Joseph County.
“This tax credit is more than just financial relief – it’s a statement of our gratitude and a practical step toward ensuring our communities continue to have reliable, dedicated emergency services. It’s time we back these brave men and women with tangible support that recognizes their selfless commitment.”
HBs 4431-32 were referred to committee for consideration.
