SEOUL (Reuters) – North Korea will convene a key meeting of the ruling Workers’ Party Central Committee in late December, KCNA news agency reported on Tuesday, announcing a conference where the country unveils major policy directions for the new year.
KCNA gave no dates for the plenary meeting of the Central Committee, which has been called twice annually in recent years, only being made public once the multiple days of sessions start.
The brief report said the meeting would discuss “issues arising in achieving the comprehensive development of socialist construction” but gave no details.
After five days of sessions last December, leader Kim Jong Un declared South Korea an enemy and said peaceful unification was no longer possible. North Korea took steps through this year to erase decades of agreements and joint projects between the two countries.
