KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A suspect police believe robbed a store on South Westnedge Tuesday evening is now in custody.
Just after 6:00 p.m. Tuesday Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of South Westnedge Avenue for a report of an armed robbery. They say the suspect entered the store and indicated a weapon. The suspect then stole an undetermined amount of money and property from the store and then fled on foot. A police K9 was called to the scene, but the suspect was not located.
At approximately 9:15 pm, Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers were then dispatched to the 500 block of Terrace Court for a “trouble with subject” call. Further investigation led to evidence from the previous robbery. A 26-year-old Kalamazoo resident was arrested for armed robbery and resisting and obstructing arrest.
The Criminal Investigation Division is investigating this incident.
